Tradition Returns to Topsfield
Anita Clark Design was retained to design an interior restoration of this existing house with a focus on the first floor. When Anita first laid eyes on the space, she told the Homeowner the home was a perfect slate to potentially be a beautiful mansion. After a series of preliminary meetings with the homeowners, Anita knew that what the project needed was a modification of the finishes combined with the procurement of authentic antiques and the appropriate furnishings.
Her initial focus was on the existing Family and Powder Room. She envisioned an all wood paneling room with Coffered Ceilings, Floor to Ceiling Wall Panels and a New Mantel with Flanking Bookcases. She wanted the room to look like it had always been there and to mimic the existing wood moldings and profiles so it would seamlessly be integrated with the original finishes.
Anita Clark Design worked with several partners on this project including Howell Custom Builders and Howell Builders. By re-creating the design concepts and shop drawings digitally, Howell Builders was able to expedite the design process and start building this custom room from scratch. Howell Builders selection and quality of materials combined with a high level of detail from every angle gave this room a stunning facelift to compliment a very beautiful home. The level of expertise, attention to detail and superb craftsmanship is highly reflected in the end result.
Anita Clark also worked closely with David Neligan, her friend and colleague , who is a renowned antique dealer in Essex , MA. Anita provided David with the lists of pieces she was looking for and David sourced and restored them for this project. His discerning eye and his selection of the best quality antiques on the North Shore of Boston made him a perfect fit for this project.
